Hello! Welcome to my corner of the Web, hope your having a great day!
The Simon Says Stamp “Thankful Flowers” October kit is still available and it has a great stamp set along with some very useful goodies, such as the Tim Holtz Mini Snips scissors that are great for fussy cutting and a small “Thanks” word die that makes a great addition to your stash.
I’ve made 10 cards with this kit so let’s just get right into it!
Card 1: I used alcohol inks and alcohol lift ink to create this colorful background. With a double stitched frame I added some interest and focus to the stamp image and ‘thanks” word die.
Card 2: This is one of my favorite cards because is was all about the paper, stamp and cardstock. I stamped the flowers with black ink on kraft card stock, then fussy cut and arranged for a focal point. No coloring and you have a simple but elegant card!
Card 3: With this card like the one before very little coloring and all about the papers. The gold and grays are just perfect combinations, add a sentiment and all done. I fussy cut the flowers after heat embossing them in black ink to add shine and dimension.
Card 4: I love to save all my scraps from papers I really love and this card is the result of all that hoarding, lol. The little “thanks” die is in the kit and is the perfect size plus a great addition to my supplies.
Card 5 and 6: These next 2 cards were all about showing the paper and that making a card doesn’t have to be stressful or difficult. Remember that when you get paper collections all the hard work is done by the talented designers that put together the color design and combinations. Look for inspiration on Pinterest or Instagram for example for layouts you can use.
Card 7: Framing elements is another way to add focus and keeping things simple yet adding interest and focus.
Card 8: With this next card I was trying a new look and even though is not my favorite is still worth showing, I think! 🙂 Created the square with watercolor markers and then white heat embossed the flower. The sentiments in this kit have a really good font that complements many types of cards.
Card 9: Ok now let’s go with some pencil coloring. This medium of coloring is the one I’m most comfortable with because blending is easier for me. Like many beginners blending is something I’m trying to practice doing more. For this card I used Farber Castell Polychromos color pencils and gamsol for helping with the blending.
Card 10: In this last card I wanted to showcase the paper so I kept the whole this simple and with minimal coloring, just a touch of green in the leaves. Keeping the flower white is a new technique I learned from Kristina Werner recently where she shows how to color a white flower. Is fantastic technique I highly recommend.
This kit still available and I really think it has some great supplies and found the tone and paper collection are really good to make some more manly cards for those handsome men in your life.
