“Butterfly Transformation” Card

Hello

I am back and hopefully here to stay. Is been a trying year and by the posts in this blog you can see I haven’t been around since April. Well that’s because I lost my mom in April and the last few months have been a little tough.Things are settling down and we’re doing ok and trying to just get back to living life.

Today I’m using a new stamp I got a little while ago called “Transformation” by The Ton stamp company. I think is just beautiful, different and I’m so glad I got it since it has been selling out like crazy!

Transformation

I created this card for a co-worker and friend of my husband for her sister who turns 50 this month. As someone who is just less than three years away from that number I feel is a significant number, I mean really is half a century!!!

First, I white heat embossed the image with Brutus Monroe Alabaster white embossing powder on Strathmore Tone Mixed Media Card stock.  Then die cut the panel using a frame die from Elizabeth Crafts.  This is my favorite frame die and I use it so much I actually got a second spare set.

With my Zig watercolor brush markers I colored this beautiful butterfly, making sure to not use too much water since I wanted to preserve the vibrancy of the colors. I then added double sided foam adhesive to the back of the panel and before adhering it to the card base I glue a piece of glitter cardstock to add a subtle shimmer to the border. I waited until the coloring was really dry and took a shimmer pen and added some sparkle to the butterfly.

For the sentiment I die cut 4 times the word “celebrate” from Tim Holtz Words Script Thinlits Die Set out of black cardstock, stacked and glued together to add dimension without having to try and add foam tape to the back.  For the shine on the sentiment I heat embossed the word with clear embossing powder 5 times, this gives it a nice glossy finish. Watch this video by Jennifer McGuire to learn how  to do this technique! You can also use glossy accents to achieve the same effect.

For a final touch I added some sequins I’ve had in my stash from a older Simon Says Stamp kit and some tiny Nuvo Jewel drops (Strawberry Coulis) and this card is already on the way to the birthday girl!

I hope you like this card and find some inspiration!  The supplies I used are listed below and hope you have a great week!  See you next Thursday or maybe sooner!

xoxo
