Hello and hope you’re having a great day!
A couple of weeks ago I posted a blog about the Simon Says Stamp August 2018 card kit and showed you five cards I created for the kit (click here for previous post). Well this kit had such great stamp set and papers that I could not stop myself! 🙂 I created 14 cards out of this kit!
I have been a bit hesitant about coloring images and was under the impression that I needed to own the biggest most expensive markers in order to color like the pros, those amazing Copic markers. The problem is they’re not thin my crafting budget 😦 So I tried some watercolor markers and they do well for a watercolor effect but I was having issues blending, here comes my next idea, coloring pencils.
Thanks to both Gina K Designs and Jennifer McGuire who have videos on coloring with pencils and Gamsol, I’m able to expand my coloring abilities and until I can afford those glorious Copic markers I think I’m not doing to shabby.
I have listed all the links for the supplies used at the end of this post. The kit might not be available but you can purchase the supplies separately.
Card 6: I used Prisma color pencils to color the stamped image and white heat embossed the outline. I love the way the kraft color card stock looks with the colors.
Card 7: The paper by Tonic called Powder Blue Lace Luxury embossed paper was beautiful it made a great back drop for this layout. One of the things I discovered while doing this card was the use of Sakura Glaze pen over the colored flowers. It gave the image a shine and a glass look.
Card 8: When making a simple card I feel that an interesting angle gives the card a little special something 🙂
Card 9: Here is another card using the Neenah Desert Storm card stock to enhance the pencil coloring. I used the Nuvo drop included in the kit to add some embellishment to the card.
Card 10: For this card the wreath stamp was all this card needed for a nice focal point.
Card 11: I drew inspiration from Sara Moerman, who stamped the image on pattern paper and colored it. I really love her card and thought I give a try. Click here for a look at her blog post to see her beautiful cards.
Card 12: This kit had such lovely papers by BoBunny “Early Bird” that I had to try to use every scrap I could.
Card 13: This card was one of the simplest to make. I love when a card can still be pretty yet be simple.
Card 14: For my last card I did what I love to do and use strips of scrap pattern papers to create my own pattern background.
This was a great kit and I was really inspired! Here all I had left 🙂
The great ladies at Simon Says Stamp had given me a kit to play with so since I’m a subscriber I happen to have an extra kit to give away! All you have to do is:
